Cybersecurity Breakfast #52
Cybersecurity & Artificial Intelligence: Panacea or Delusion?Keynote by Cédric Mauny, Head of Cybersecurity Services, TelindusRound table discussion: Maxime Dehaut (Codit), Emilia Tantar, Christophe Mourey (AG2R / La Mondiale Europartner)
Keeping data and network secure is not an easy journey in today's world. The integration and use of software and technology solutions must be accompanied by appropriate security measures.
Therefore, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is slowly becoming a sophisticated and protective gear for enterprise cybersecurity, helping organizations increase the effectiveness of their strategy.
Today, AI and machine learning algorithms are being used to automate tasks, process data, have more accurate threat detection, improve cybersecurity in general and make decisions at a speed that is humanly impossible. As a result, cybersecurity professionals can focus on more critical tasks in the organization.
Along with advantage, the adoption of AI structures and platforms as a line of defense does not come without challenges.
This session draws the portrait of AI as a tool for cybersecurity in order to help you implement more sophisticated cybersecurity systems and strategies.
"AI will contribute to improve the capability but will never be able to replace an appropriate cybersecurity strategy and a good cybersecurity hygiene", Cédric Mauny.
Round table discussion
The keynote speech was followed by a round table discussion with:
- Maxime Dehaut, Lead Architect, Codit
- Cédric Mauny, Head of Cybersecurity Services, Telindus
- more participants tbc
- Emilia Tantar, Chief Data and Artificial Intelligence Officer,| Head of Delegation for Luxembourg on AI standardisation, TEDx Speaker
- Christophe Mourey, ITSO pour AG2R / La Mondiale Europartner
Moderation: Pascal Steichen, CEO SECURITYMADEIN.LU
What are the challenges and how mature is the AI technology to really help cybersecurity?
"Cybersecurity is an area where AI is applied. AI is a tool which enables a good navigation through data. We need to have best practices, which come from data and go for all the AI value chain", Emilia Tantar.
"From my perspective, the fact that in cybersecurity we have the two aspects, the volume and the velocity and that has an impact on the amount of data you have to process of course, that's a challenge. The second challenge is the fact the technology that we use evolve pretty much every single day. So you need to keep up the pace because if you don't, someone else will and that could be the attacker", Maxime Dehaut.
"The first issue now in cybersecurity is collecting the data, which is done by everybody, but the increase in the volume of data might become a leak in the processing of this data and the attack detection. That's why I think, in this case, AI might be very good", Christophe Mourey.
